Nursery Murals fun for Artist

Artist give his and Special touch Nursery Murals take a special touch

When it come to doing kids murals for nurseries airbrush artist from Humble Texas, Ray Gatica has a special touch. When he is commissioned to created murals he like to incorporate his airbrushing magic into the mural. This makes for a particular style that is his own. Recently he has done a few hundred square feet of mural space for Kids Acadeemy owed by Sharon Lerenoy. Lefrenoy has used gatica services over the past seven years to decorate her academies. “He has fair prices and he always get the job done on time. Plus what I get is more than I expect. He is very creative and gives me good bang for the buck,” says Lefrenoy..

During the past few years he has created in her four nurseries in the Houston Humble and Atascotia locations.

First Gatica gets ideas and the clients vision to see what they have in mind. Then he expounds on the design and takes it from there. Normally, he does not do sketches before hand because his portfolio, or virtual portfolio on the web at his website clients can see what he does and let him do what he does best. This allows the price to be kept down since he does not have to spend time on create sketches or a mock up of the design.

Whacky World Style Art very much in demand but is pricey. The artist is capable of simulating Whacky World Art for a much lesser cost.

In creating the murals Gatica uses latex paints to lay down the basic design. At this stage the design will look awfully flat and even scary; This is when a client may think that they made the wrong decision on their choice of artist, but Gatica assures them that the painting still has a ways to go and not to worry. Along with painting using interior latex paints for the base color he uses quality acrylics for adding the detail. The better paints allow for a painting small areas easier and better.

Special touch: After laying down the figures and the various elements of the mural, Gatica uses his airbrushing skills to add his distinctive touch to the art. Using the airbrush he is able to shape, contour shadow and highlight the art to give it a three-dimensional high end quality. Also at the end he also softens the edges of the painting to give it a floating feel as opposed to it just sitting on the wall.

After the painting is complete he brushes on a coat of clear acrylic if necessary. This serves to protect the painting a bit but more than that it evens out the painting so that the various colors and paints are uniform. The clears can be glossy, semi-gloss or eggshell, or flat finish.
